    For to get them a feed
    So he slipped out and brought his big knife in.
    He cut down the straps
    Of his breeches, the best
    He ripped out the buttons and stitches
    He cut them in stripes
    In the way they do tripes
    And he boiled them his old leather breeches.
    The boys sure they smiled
    For they thought he had boiled
    Some mutton or beef of the richest
    But little they knew
    That 'twas leather bragu
    That was made out of Paddy's old breeches.
    And they smiled at the stuff
    But says Larry "Tis tough"
    Darby jumps to his feet and he screeches
    Says Larry "make speed
    And send for the priest
    OH, holy St Patrick, I'm finished
    "Be the hokey" says Pat
    "Sure I thought it was fat
    Says Larry "You're no judge of mutton
