It is believed that a hidden treasure is buried in the lands of Mr. Busteed Ballea Carrigaline. The treasure is supposed to be a safe stolen from the bank at Kinsale many years ago. The safe at the time contained a lot of money and it is understood that the thieves escaped to Australia immediately after. When those robbers reached Australia they sent some people whom they knew across to uproot the treasure. One of those who came across was William Manhony, who was born on the boundary, but did not succeed in finding it. The old folks round the district still think that the hidden treasure is still concealed.
