  1. In the year of 1893 there was a fair in Lisgoold. It was held on St John's Day. It was a great fair for sheep, lambs, pigs, and cattle. The field where the fair was held is known yet as the fair field. One fair day there was a woman sold there for a pound. It started with a joke and at last her people sold her. And a man down south bought her.
