    Near the Christian Brothers’ School stands Fr. Kennedy’s Monument. It is a life sized figure in bronze of this great Irish priest and patriot who stood by and advised and encouraged the people in their trials and sufferings. He joined whole heartedly in the struggle against high rents and evictions; through his efforts some landlords were forced to sell the land to the people. Above all he helped to keep the tenants united during the Plan of Campaign.
    These landlords showed no mercy and evicted the poor people from their homes. Speak and give description of an eviction, boycotting, etc. Some Irishmen were members of Parliament Mr. Parnell etc.
    Fr Murphy attended meeting after meeting. He was C.C. in Meelin and he was arrested there. Thirteen car loads of police went to that
