    was seen sitting close to the well at midnight between the hours of twelve and two smoking a claypipe with a long stem and a bright tin cover, and to anyone who came to the well she would stretch out her hand as if anxious to give them a smoke. There lived in the neighbourhood a man of gigantic stature names Sean Moor. One night he found that he had no tobacco. He thought of the woman at the well. He went towards her. She handed him the pipe and he smoked it, and he prayed ferverently to God that she might be released from her sufferings. She said that he would never again have to go out so late for a smoke and from that night the woman was never again seen there.
