  1. The name of the townland I am living in is Meenagloghrane. It is situated in the parish of Millstreet, and in the barony of Duhallow. There are seven houses in the townland five of them are covered with thatch and two with slate. In olden times houses were far more numerous. And in the land at present occupied by Murtey Sullivan and John Mahony, there lived sixteen families. The land for the most part is high with poor surface, and there are also about eight acres of cut-away bog. The families who occupied the place formerly mostly all emigrated to America, and a few to Australia, and to New Zealand. The sites of their dwellings can scarcely be traced. There are a few aged people, but only three that are over seventy years namely Katie Goulding, Mary Goulding, Murtey Eugene, Meenagloherane. None of them has any great knowledge of Irish, but they can relate some stories in English. They claim that the Leprachaun could be seen every evening at sunset in a field of Murtey Eugunes.
