    Tis of a pretty maiden fair these lines I will unfold.

    home in lovely Doonasleen.
    'Twas then I boldly stepped up for to salute this dame,
    Saying, "Was it from the heavens you fell, or will you tell your name?
    Or are you Juna Heelan fair or any earthly queen?
    "No, no," said she, I'm a country lass, I live in Doonasleen."
    "You said you were a country lass but never told your name
    It seems to me you're rather shy, but never dread your fame,
    And with a brave true Irish boy, come ramble o'er the green
    Who would ever be your humble slave in lovely Doonasleen."
    "Now if you want to know my name'
