A cruel landlord near here claimed rent from a small farmer who was living near the estate and as his ancestors never paid the rent he refused to pay it. The landlord had all his horses driven into the poor man's fields they were there for about a week and ate and destroyed his crops. Then the landlord went on holidays to England and when the farmer heard he was gone he drove the horses into the estate again and then he fenced all the gaps and put thorny wire on the bounds ditches. When the landlord came home he went himself and opened a gap then he mounted a fine horse and drove all the horses and cattle into the fields but just as he was going in through the gap; the horse reared and shied. The landlord started to beat the plunging horse which was sweating and frothing with fright. The horse backed back again and then when the landlord struck him he fell dead and pinned the landlord under and both were killed instantly. The belief about it was, that, that was the punishment the landlord(continues on next page)
