    One night in November there was a great ball

    While the Commitee Boys wired into the ham.

    Tom steered for Kerry on the morning of the Ball,
    And then wished 'Good Bye' to the fools one and all,
    He had not gone far by Dan Foley's old road,
    When the motor refused for to carry the load,
    Being sadly disappointed he returned for home,
    And found Molly in the dining room picking a bone,
    'O dear! then says Molly "what shall we do,
    Sure the ham and the jam I intended for you,
    This big leg of mutton and the scraps of the Ball,
    Will keep us all eating till the next time you call.
