    right in front of him the very last thing he expected to meet - a "ghost". It seemed to be tall and thin with a big white head which it kept nodding at him in a mocking sort of a way. He stood for some time undecided whether it was better for him to run or not. He made a terrible rush at the ghost, clasping it tightly around the neck, and shouting, "who is that". But he quickly released his hold and found the palms of his hands paved with thorns, as the ghost turned out to be a big thistle.
