  1. In olden times the people of this district did not wear boots until they were about twenty years of age. In more recent times they wore boots for Confirmation and for going to Mass. They carried the boots under their arms to the cross roads nearest to the Chapel and here they put them on, taking them off there again on the return journey. The children now rarely go barefoot except when on holidays from school during the Summer months.
    The water used for washing the feet should be thrown out before you go to bed. It should not be thrown out until all
