  1. The only poet of this district was "Bill Goggin" who lived in Long Island nicknamed "Bill the Poet. It was he composed this song as follows -: and the two boys mentioned were his two sons.
    The Hiberian Steamer
    My neighbours, I pray attention.
    I hope you'll attend to my song.
    And if you only listen,
    Indeed, I'll not keep you too long.
    Conserning the Hiberian Steamer.
    That crossed the Atlantic foam
    And struck her stern up in Bird Island
    And landed her crew in the shore.
    Chorus.
    Long life to the crew and the captain.
    That steered her across the rough main.
    Now we are eating fine flour cakes
    and apples, and stealing the
    wreck all away.

    It would fill up your heart with surprise.
    To behold these wild bullocks roaring
