- The name of the district in which I live is "Ardravinna". This portion of land is elevated and at either side of it is a bog and this is how it got its name. There are twenty families living in it and each family bears a different name. There are eleven Catholic families and nine protestant families in it. There are seventy three people living there altogether, forty four protestants and twenty nine Catholics. There are very few old people there. The only people over eighty are John Roycroft and his brother Edward and Mrs O'Driscoll. None of these people can speak Irish but they can tell stories in English.The majority of the houses are slated and cemented on the outside. There are two iron covered houses and two thatched houses in the townland. Mr Ferguson has a shop there also. There are a few old ruins to be seen still and this proves to us that there were more people(continues on next page)
