    Some seventy years ago Derrinard school was further west than the present school. The school was thatched and the back wall was nearly level with the high ground behind.
    One day the boys were playing hounds and foxes around the school; Charlie was the fox; he is dead now, God rest his soul. All the boys cornered him behind the school; he had nothing to do to escape but
