in a very remote district among the rocky hills. A family of Keoghs, relatives of the bishop lived in Skevally up to eighty years ago.
Valentine Keogh was the last owner of Skevally house. One day while he was away from home on business his tenants broke into the house, stole flitches of bacon hanging ffrom the celing and then burned the dwelling. Only a gable now remains. Two of his sisters were there at the times and they begged the looters to save a mirror which had been in the family for two hundred years. This was not done and the mirror was smashed.
