These pages should be read by everyone that wishes to get a true insight into the actual political situations in Munster at this period. There has been considerable difference of opinion as to the location of Bealach Leachta. The learned Canon says it was a mile east of Macroom at the junction of the Sullane and Laney. He adds that the route of the retreating army was at Bearna Dearg, a place name still preserved in the townlands of Sleaveen.
