    was much used by farmers. It came in barrels holding about two hundredweight. It was of a very poor quality being very tough and fat. It was sold for I think 3d per lb. Vegetables were always boiled with it and it was extolled because of its virtue of "softening" cabbage and turnips. Frozen beef from the Argentine was sold in Skibbereen about thirty five years ago by a company known as the River Plate Company.
