  1. To " A Lover of Sport"
In words of wit and fame
You write on hounds and men
    But you've failed to name
    The hunting heroines with them.
On wheels I was after the crowd,
In those long past happy times
And always I felt really proud
    Of Roscommon's heroines.
First on my role of fame
    And history has it told
    Of Mrs Mills-MacDonnell's name
    In letters of emblazoned gold
And far from her Roscommon home
    She cometed at many shows
    Her horsemanship had shown
And taken off men the coveted rose
Now following closely in her steps
A fair haired lass rising gem
O'er hurls, walls and sod fences leaps
    Comes Tomona's hope Miss Flanagan.
