  1. A friend has passed away
    He has crossed the bourne
    In the early hours of to-day
    From whence there's no return.
    His soul has winged its flight
    To a bright realm of bliss,
    Where the after life is bright
    And eternal happiness.
    The sad news "he is dead"
    Like lightenings flash did roll
    Many a silent prayer was said
    For the happy repose of his soul.
    A neighbour good and kind
    Most faithful and sincere,
    His memory will be kept in mind
    His good deeds treasured here.
    I'll miss his friendly clasp of hand
    The next time that I call;
    His genial smile, his welcome grand
    On our meeting in the Hall.
