    and began to play. The echoes of the music soft and weird came flowing back one after another. It appeared as if there were harpers on every hills for miles around.
    The natives looked from the hillto hill but could not see any harper. The cows left off feeding, the deers gathered in groups with heads erect. The birds crept to higher branches and listened.
    Boab Derg on hearing the music he suspected that the harper must have come to woo his daughter, and as he did not wish to part with her, he cast a spell over the palace so that the music could not be in it. Cliath knew nothing of the spell. He kept playing for a whole year, but still Conchend made no appearance. At last he earth nearby suddenly opened and water gushed forth and flowed within a few feet of the harper.
