    the chain and he traced the horses to it and they lifted the enormous pan over the water, but when it was within reach as he thought, a big eel came and cut the chain in two, and the pan of gold fell back into the water. The man brought the chain home and he made much use of it ever after; he used it chiefly for raising blocks of woods in his bogs, and he often lent it to the neighbours.
    This is a true story.
