  1. There was once a man who lived in Cloonfad himself and his wife and a two year old child.
    They lived together happily until one day when the man came home from work his wife was gone. He searched all over the parish in drains and dykes and nowhere could he get her and as the child was not able to talk and tell him how his mother went he was more grieved.
    One day as the boy was playing alone in the garden his mother appeared to him She had a long talk with him and asked how his father was and before she left him she told him she would meet him again in the same place and at the same time the next day.
    When his father came home from work, he heard the son saying to himself about the woman he met in the garden. Then his father asked
