  1. (continued from previous page)
It was a pity, Katie, unto the clay should go.
For many a decent farmer's daughter poor Kitty taught to sew.
And now her daughter Lizzie those days she oft recalls
Unto the one on which she laid, her mother inside the Churchyard walls
And now in health and happiness Lizzie Minchin lives in Boyle.
And the curse of an orphan fell down upon them all."
Mrs Quinn was Lizzie Minchin before her marriage and the three men mentioned were those who evicted her mother. Again Mrs Quinn herself was evicted, but she had her house reduced to a heap of stones on the arrival of the police. The agent Mr. Cooney came accompanied by Woulfe Flanagan who still lives near Boyle. Both were Lord De Freynes agents who ordered that she be brought to the "Green Table". This was done but Mrs Quinn was pardoned and Lord De Freyne payed twenty pounds costs. She met our present Parish Priest canon O'Beirne who was then a young priest and on hearing of her sad plight gave her some money which paid her fare to Boyle town and from thence she resides in the Town.
