    landlord liked a friend, he would take the land, from some of the tenants and give it to the friend. If the landlord wanted work done, he would make the tenants come and do the work for him, free of charge. If a person was paying rent for bog, he would be allowed cut the turf a certain depth, or if he wanted to bring a cart load of turf-mould, off the bog he would be punished. Tithes were collected to support the landlord, by the landlord's agent. These tithes were collected in money, and the agent was "Wolf" Flanagan.
    In Crosna there was a man named Martin, who resented paying of the rent. He was put working in a mill in jail, but he was worked so hard, that he lost the power of his feet, which had to be amputated.
