- My father owns a field which is called The Waste by the local people. This particular field is situated in the townland of Derryherk. At one time, the land there was waste and though it has been reclaimed the field still retains it's old name.
- Very often people call fields after certain people.
A man called Beirne lived in our barn one time, and the field beside it is called Beirne's field.
