  1. Canon Wills told me that the eight Viscount Ashbrooke of Knockatrina who was born in 1836 and died in 1919 remembered, as a child being placed on somebody's shoulders outside the castle so that he could see Father Matthew preaching to the crowds of people in Durrow Square.
    Lord Ashbrook was patron and manager of Castle - Durrow school till 1914 when he appointed the late Canon Wills patron and manager of the school.
