  1. The Fairy Ring is on the Slieve Bloom Mountains. It is a round ring about two feet high formed of a bank of stones and heather. Is is ninety six yards all round. Long ago the fairies lived there. They had horses and they rode them round the ring for their sports. The men wore red suits and the women wore green blouses and plaid skirts. On November nights in the moonlight the fairies were seen dancing and singing.Other nights they were seen riding around the ring on little horses about the size of a sheep. There was a fir bush growing in the centre of the ring.It was burnt and there was no ashes.
