  1. In Rathangan the fairs are held in Paradise Square around the pump. This fair is not of large demesions because many stock is not offered for sale at it. It is held on the third mon-day of every month. A lot of people attend the fair but not much buying and selling is (caried) carried out. When an animal is sold the men slap each other on the hand to show that the bargain is sealed. When a man buys an animal he marks her on the flank with her own manure.
It is usual for the buyer to bring the other man in and treat him.
