  1. This following poen was composed by John Darcy. He was only a poor travelling man who frequently visite this district. It is said that he could compose a song while eating his supper. The following is one of his compositions:-
    Stirabout
    Oh! the supper 'tis made for the man and the spade
    That material they call stirabout
    'Tis simply made by the twist of a stick
    With the drop of lukewarm water they get in the dike
    'Tis thrown on the hob till it platters plob, plob.
    Oh! 'twill do them damn well
    Let it boil if it like
