  1. In the year 1921 during the Black and Tan terro therer was a column of fifty volunteers in this locality, and the police often tried to arrest the leaders.
    A certain District Inspector was very active and the volunteers seized his motor car by night, took it down to the bogs of Ballintea and burned it near an old rath.
