    the roads were impassable & the auction had to be postponed for some weeks. The late Fr. Doody was appointed to Fr. Brennan's place as curate. To get to Ballyhale for Sunday Mass he had to walk from Ballycallan. He did the first of the journey on Friday & stayed that night at a friend's house about half-way and safely covered the remainder of the journey on Saturday.

  2. The last of days of Janaury 1917 was the time of a dreadful snowstorm. It started some time before nightfall very fine driving powdery snow. All the roads were blocked and in the village of Rosboultra all the groceries were used up for it was near the end of the week when the snow started & nobody had much of a stock in. The men decided that they would make a way out to the main road for they
