  1. Some years ago in the district of Ballyhomuck there was a forge but it is no longer standing. The owner of this forge was my mother's brother his name was Edward Butler. His father and his grand-father were smith's before him
    This forge is situated beside a stream. The roof was slated. There was only fire place in it. The door had not any special shape. On the door a horse shoe was nailed
    The implements the smith used were the Anvil the Sledge the Hammer the Pincers the Rasp the drawing Knife the Vice the Dogs. This smith was regarded as a strong man.
    This smith used to shoe horses asses ponies and jennets. He used to make
