    Local Heros
    Noted dancers-
    I often heard the people talk-ing about Michael Coughlin, Kilnamaryal who died twenty years ago. He was a great dancer of reels, jigs, hornpipes, barn-dances, lancers and sets. He won several prizes at contests he used side steps, toe and heel steps and hop steps. Sometimes he used to wear little bells on his heels which kept jingling while he danced.I heard he learned his steps to counting from a man nam-ed Towey, a dancing master, and from Paddy Monaghan, a great dancer from Creeve, about three miles from Elphin.
