- ChurningWe have a churn at home. It is about three feet high and two feet wide in the bottom, and one and a half feet wide in the top. The churn is two years in the hosue. There is a mark on the side of the churn. Butter is made twice a week in Summer and once a week in (Summer) Winter. Strangers who come in if the churning is going on they help at the work. The churning takes about an hour. It is done by hand. When the dash is clear without any butter on it the people know the butter is made. In Summer the people use cold water when churning and in Winter they use hot water.
