    Basket-making
    "Necessity is the mother of invention"
    Long ago the old people were hard-working, capable folk. They generally made all their own necessities such as creels and baskets. Scarcely any-one recollects the craft of basket-making around my locality. I understand from some information I received a few days ago, that baskets are made thus. A strong sally or briar is procured to make the hoop, and this is tied round a barrel to become a circle. Then the ribs of the basket are made of strong sallies split in two, and stuck in the ground
