the Irish chieftains across the Shannon. He then travelled Munster and he happened to come into Valentia Harbour, seeing this beautiful castle overlooking the harbour, he attacked it immediately form the light-house. None of the occupants were killed because the chieftains had a fort stretching underneath the water from the castle to Rinard Point. The castle was razed to the ground and the chieftains fled away but it is not known where they went as some chieftains fled to Connaught it being t he one province not confiscated and some emigrated to the continent. Convenient to the castle are the remains of a Round Tower in Terrmore(?), and also the strong fort of Cahergal situated on the north of the castle.
