- I have heard the following story in connection with a poor scholar named John Fox, a native of Co. Leitrim. It appears he was in the Co. Kerry at the time. He was staying in a house where a churn was being made one day. The cream could not be converted into butter. John Fox got a woodbine twig and bound the two ends of it together.
