  1. Strong man (a) Jack Carey of Scart, parish of Ballyhar, Co. Kerry, was a man weighing sixteen stone and a little over six feet in height. One one occasion he lifted a metal block weighing sixteen stone and threw it over a roadside fence. He died about fifty years ago.
    (b)
    Michael Hayes of Leamnaguilea, parish of Ballyhar, Co Kerry, carried a half sack of flour on his back from Farranfore to Leamnaguilea, a distance of three and a half miles. He died about fifteen years ago. He rested at intervals.
    (c)
    His brother Jeremiah Hayes took a sack of meal on his back from Scart Cross to Gowlane, parish of Fireies, Co. Kerry, a distance of three quarters of a mile, without resting. The rewards obtained for this fleat was one quart of sour milk and a quarter cake of pure yellow meal bread wet with water. He died about fifty years ago.
