  1. About a mile from this school, in Hennessy's Lodge, Three Castles, Co. Kilkenny, lived an old woman. During the great storm a tree fell on the roof of her house and into the room where the old lady lay in bed. It touched the bed-clothes but she was unharmed.

  2. In one of my father's "tullas" are the remains of an old Church. Mass was celebrated in it over a hundred years ago. About a week before the new church was ready to have Mass celebrated, a priest died and was buried in the old church, and when the new one was consecrated, they brought the body and buried it in the churchyard.
A florin is believed to be buried in each corner of the new churchyard.
