  1. We have a churn at home which is a small one with a handle and beaters inside mostly used for churning cream. It takes only a quarter of an hour to do it.
    My mother does the churning and I help her. If a neighbour came at the time of the churning he would help with it, as it is and old custom.
    It is less labour than the ordinary churn with the dash.
    The small churn is worked round but the big is worked up and down.
    When the churning is finished there is a cork pulled out of the end where the butter-milk comes out. There is then water put to wash the butter after which it is taken
