  1. Having a "Gander" is an old custom carried on down to the present day here, eating a Gander the night before the wedding. They hold it in the woman's house and all friends from both sides are invited to the Gander. The so called "Gander" was very often roast beef or roast mutton. It is held till twelve o'clock that night before the marriage.
