  1. I've enquired and found no person to tell me if there was any old school in this district. Not one was heard of there but there were teachers going round to the farmer's houses and for their bed and support for a night or two their payment was to instruct or teach the children in the house. The grown-up boys and girls, boy generally, used to follow this teacher at night round the district.
Our own school was built in 1848 and the Principal teachers were
Mr. Martin Daly of Kilsarcon, Farranfore, Mr Patrick Dennely of Curraws Farranfore, and the present principal Mr. Daniel Kernish of Currans, Farranfore.
The managers as far as can be remembered were.
    Father Moriarty
    " Lynch,
    " JK. Fitzgeraed,
    " Con. McCarthy
    " Dan OKeefe
