    Lime is burned in kilns but not as extensively as it was in olden times. There are three lime kilns in this district but there were a few more in it about fifty years ago.
    Thatching was another important industry in this district but it is now dying out because most of the people are erecting new houses. Hugh Mc Cormac of Cloonticarn, Cloonloo, Boyle was a famous thatcher.
