  1. The local fairs are held in the following places, Gurteen, Ballymote, Boyle, Ballaghaderreen and Monasteraden. Buyers sometimes purchase cattle on the land at times when prices are high and cattle in demand
    Fairs were held in Bunninadden but are now discontinued because of its nearness to Ballymote and also on account of no railway being convenient to the place.
    Fairs were held in the streets but are now forbidden. In some towns a toll of sixpence is paid on each animal sold.
