    till the box was as full as much as it could hold. There now for you I knew I would win says the serpent. With that St Patrick clapped down the heavy lid of the box of a sudden and the serpent whipped in his tail fearing it would be snapped off him and before a second St Pat had the key turned in the lock. Then he lifted the box to his shoulder and put it from him with a mighty heave out into the sea and that was the end of the last of the serpents in Ireland.
