    to make up the balance. It was the usual custom in ever house to get the eldest girl married first and oftentimes if she was not good looking they tried several tricks to get rid of her before her younger and better looking sisters.
    Sometimes men went to certain houses to steal a wife. At a fair or local gathering a certain man happened to see a young lady whom he fancied but knowing that if he asked her to be his wife he would not get her. What he did was to get other men to accompany him and they went on horseback at night to the girl's house and stole her from her home, He carried her away in front of him
