    The people were severely punished by the landlords.
    For years the landlords had the people starving in the bogs and mountains.
    The Irish people suffered alot during that time.
    The way the landlords got the land was that they drove the Irish people from the land and took all the land to themselves and drove the Irish farmers to the bogs and mountains for to starve.
    After some time the English began to take in some of the Irish people as tenants on their own land and they used to pay a very big rent.
