  1. The morning was bright and sunny
    And the lark sang in the sky,
    When from an Irish cabin,
    There came a woman's cry.
    We'll go to that same cabin,
    And we'll take a bird's eye peep,
    Pat Marren's daughter there
    Is going to cross the deep.
    Pat's wife is now a weeping
    As the hour has come to part,
    With her brave young darling daughter
    The idol of her heart.
    The emigrant is kneeling,
    On the nicely sanded floor,
    Beseeching of her mother,
    Whose heart is sad and sore.
