  1. Uncle Kevin was one day fishing in Coolaney river and after a while found something mighty strong tugging at the line. Not wishing to break his fishing rod, he caught hold of the line, twisted it round his hand and pulled for all he was worth. Soon a mighty head appeared then a long thick body about six feet long an enormous eel – after a great struggle he managed to get him up on the bank and then let go of the line. As soon as the eel got partly free he twisted round his tail put it into this mouth and blew a mighty whistle that shook the mountain near by and then to his astonishment eels by the hundred came up out of the river – and scrambled on to where the big fellow lay. They soon gathered round him and then each shoving from behind bundled him into the river and as go bratac with the whole lot of them and from that to this neither sight nor light was ever seen of the monster again.
