- Long ago things were not done as they are now done.
Washing was often done at the sea, the lake, the river, the stream or the well.
Ther eis a well named "Tobat an éadaigh" in the townland of Carrowmacbryan. It got its name in this way.
Once upon a time a woman brought clothes to wash at the well. Instead of using a vessel she put one of the garments into the well and immediately she did so the well leaped from its place into a different part of the field. The woman nearly died with fright and never went near the place again nor were ever clothes washed there since.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
